With modest ground clearance, the weight of a dumper truck and enough chrome to frighten the camels, Ian Mutch joined a group of ‘serious’ overlanders on his Harley-Davidson Dynaglide Custom to ride across the Sahara to Mali.
Without serious boots, body armour, a ‘proper’ helmet and only limited riding skills, Mutch chugs happily along through Mauritanian minefields and down 100km off road stretches of Harley hell. Frequently lost and mostly alone, Mutch manages to meet up with his ‘riding’ comrades by the end of play each day. The daily reunions provide the writer ample opportunity to exercise his cruel wit on them in this motorcycle travel book, the collection of which is now developing a dedicated following of mirthmongers.
